Revenue operations

Boost revenue and secure commitment with smarter proposals

You’ve probably sent proposals that didn’t land — maybe the pricing wasn’t right, or the services didn’t quite align. Now, you can present up to three service packages in one proposal, each with its own pricing and scope, and guide clients toward higher-value options. Close more deals, increase average revenue, and streamline your workflow — all within TaxDome. You can also request a deposit directly inside the proposal, securing commitment before work begins, without issuing an invoice too early.

Frequently asked questions

What are packages in proposals, and why do accounting firms need them?

Packages in proposals let you offer multiple service options (e.g., Basic, Standard, Premium) within a single proposal.

This helps clients choose the level of service that fits their needs while making it easier for your firm to increase average engagement value without additional back-and-forth.

How much do other proposal tools cost compared to TaxDome?

Many proposal tools charge based on usage (either per proposal, per client, or both) which can add up as your firm grows:

  • Anchor: $5 per proposal + 3% client fee = ~$60,000/year for 1,000 clients
  • Ignition: $229/month base + $3 per client over 350 = ~$26,148/year
  • TaxDome: packages in proposals are included in your subscription. You only pay standard payment processing fees, with no additional per-proposal or per-client charges.
Why is this better than using separate proposal software?

Using separate tools for proposals, billing, and client work often leads to duplicate data entry and a disconnected client experience.

With TaxDome, everything is in one place (proposals, invoices, payments, and project delivery) so your team and your clients stay on the same page from start to finish.

Can I use tiered pricing with my current TaxDome account?

Yes. Packages in proposals are built into TaxDome, so you can start creating tiered proposals using your existing account — no additional tools or subscriptions required.

What makes TaxDome’s approach different from other practice management systems?

Many systems require separate tools to create and manage proposals.

TaxDome keeps proposals, billing, and client workflows fully connected, so when a client accepts a proposal, everything else (payments, jobs, communication) continues seamlessly within the same system.

How do tiered proposals help with client segmentation?

When clients choose between service options, they naturally indicate their needs and budget.

This helps you identify higher-value clients, reduce time spent on low-margin work, and better align your services with what clients actually want.

Will this work if I currently bill hourly or use fixed fees?

Yes. You can start by packaging your existing services into clear options and adjust over time based on what clients choose most often.

Many firms use this approach to gradually move toward more standardized and predictable pricing.

Do I have to use multiple tiers, or can I send single proposals?

You can do both. Use multiple options when you want to offer choice, or send a single fixed-price proposal when that fits the engagement.

How do deposits work in TaxDome?

When a client signs a proposal with a deposit:

  • The deposit is paid at signing
  • The funds are added to the client’s credit balance
  • The credit is automatically applied to the invoice included in the proposal. If you create a separate invoice outside the proposal, credits will only apply automatically if automatic credit application is enabled in the invoice template. Otherwise, you or your client must apply the credits manually.

The invoice still reflects the full service amount, while the deposit reduces the remaining balance.

Why request a deposit instead of billing the full amount upfront?

Deposits are ideal when:

  • You want commitment before starting work
  • The engagement has multiple phases
  • You prefer staged payments
  • You want to reduce risk with new clients

It helps you control cash flow without complicating the proposal process.

Does this replace invoicing?

No. Deposits work alongside invoicing.

You can:

  • Issue an invoice immediately
  • Request a deposit first

You choose what fits each engagement.
